Religious Education

At Summerside we have a diverse community.  We aim to celebrate this diversity and share the beliefs and traditions of our families from different faiths.

RE lessons are taught weekly following the Barnet Agreed syllabus.  As children move through the school, they develop their knowledge and understanding of world beliefs and of ethical beliefs.

Children learn about the major festivals of different faiths in lessons and in whole school assemblies.  Parents are also welcomed into school to share their religious traditions.  In Key Stage 2 children visit local places of worship and learn about the importance of religion in our local community.

Through RE teaching and learning children develop a positive attitude to living in a religiously diverse society and respect people of all faiths.
